Preface
The following pieces on Evolution versus Creation with their attachments were sent
to Dr. Richard Dawkins. The first on 1 July, 2001 and the second on 4 September, 2004. My
covering letters are not included in this booklet.
In the second letter I included the following remarks: -
“The general feel one gets is that evolution today is losing ground in the world generally,
although this does not necessarily mean that all those disillusioned with evolution are
becoming Biblical fundamentalists; they are just as likely or more likely to turn to New Age
ideas or whatever. Relatively recently I saw a group of weirdos holding some sort of service
round a stone at Avebury.”
How far my opinions have proved true to date it is for the reader to judge.
The last piece regarding Dr. Dawkins book: “The God Delusion” has not been sent to
him, but he has been advised that it is on this web site.
Regarding evolution the following piece I have just read in my daughter’s
autobiography may be of interest: -
“At school we were taught evolutionary theory as if it were fact. This teaching confused me.
How could it be that some scientists were saying the world was millions of years old, when
according to the Bible the world was made around six thousand years ago? How was it that
we were supposed to have come from monkeys and yet there are no half monkeys, half
people! If Darwin’s theories were true then why didn’t cats breed with dogs, or horses with
cows? The Bible says that God made animals after their own kind. This made sense to me. It
was what I could see around me, and slowly I began to realise that not all adults had their
facts straight.”
Much of what you can find in the following pages will, I think, be understandable
without reference to Dr. Dawkins books, but the reasons for some of my statements may be
clearer if the books are to hand. They can probably be consulted in a library or borrowed
from myself if not otherwise easily obtainable. What I have written is neither a ranting
assault on Dr. Dawkins nor a lot of soft soap!
